John McGlothlin

John came to Wes-Del in 2014. Where he became the Boy’s head basketball Coach. John became the longest serving boys basketball coach in Wes-Del history and he retired from that position after serving 10 years. He also became the only Boy’s basketball coach in Wes-Del history to win a total of over 100 games. He reached double digit wins in seven consecutive seasons while the previous record was 3. He was also named head coach of the 2023 Elite North vs South All Star game. In 2017 he was one of four coaches selected to coach the IBCA/Hoosier Basketball Top 100 Players Workout. Over 20 of his players made the Academic All-State Team during his career. John started the Old Timers Game for Graduates of Wes-Del that takes place prior to the start of each season and that has expanded to include the girl’s teams. He also started the Grassroots Elementary Basketball League. This league grew to include 15 different schools participating across 6 different grade levels and across 5 host sites. Starting this league also led to the start of the Future Lady Warriors League that our youth girls currently participate in. Throughout out his entire coaching career he has had 4 players go on to participate at either the college or semi-professional level.
