<p><strong>1987</strong> – Union High School Cross Country had its best season since 1970 with a record of 12-1. They qualified for Sectional, the Regional and Semi-State, where they finished second, second, and thirteenth respectfully. “Hard work, dedication and pride led to our success.” – Coach Rodger Seats.</p>
<p>The Randolph County Championship was the first ever in the history of Cross Country, and the Mid-Eastern Conference Championship was the first since 1970.</p>
<p>Coach Seats was chosen by the conference coaches as the Mid-Eastern Conference Coach of the Year.</p>
<p><strong>1989 </strong>– Wes-Del High School Baseball Team – 15-10 Best Record with the Most Wins in School History.  MEC Conference Championship Title.</p>
<p><strong>1990</strong> – Wes-Del High School Baseball Final Four. They won Sectional, Regional and Semi-State.</p>

<p><strong>Contributions to the field of athletics (for Coaches and Contributors</strong>):  I coached for 20 years at Monroe Central Elementary School, Wes-Del Junior Pro 30 years of service, 3 years at Wes-Del Middle School (1993-1995).  I coached one team for 6<sup>th</sup>, 7<sup>th</sup>, and 8<sup>th</sup> grade.  This team won 2 Delta Team Invitational Tournaments and 2 Delaware County Tournaments.  They were undefeated their 6<sup>th</sup> and 7<sup>th</sup> grade years and had an overall record of 37-3.  I coached the Wes-Del Girls Varsity team for 6 years (1998-2004).  We were the 2000-2001 Sectional Runners Up, 2001-2002 County Tournament Runners Up, 2001-2002 Sectional Champions in triple overtime, 2002-2003 Sectional Runners Up. My overall Varsity Coaching record for those six years was 68-60.</p>

<p><u>Sporting Awards:</u>    Hershel Brown Citizenship Award 1970, Wes-Del Mental Scholastic Attitude Award 1970, Gaston Lions Club Sportsmanship Award 1970, Team member of Wes-Del Boys Basketball Team School Record Holders 21-3, Set Wes-Del school record for most rebounds in a game (28 rebounds versus Anderson Highland 1969-1970), Delaware County Boys Basketball first team selection 1970, Muncie Sectional Boys Basketball Honorable Mention 1970, Delaware County Boys Track 440 yard dash champion 1970, Boys Track member of the mile relay team who broke the school record (Steve Younce, David Kelly, Keith Morgan, and myself), Men’s Track at Huntington University broke the 400 meter dash record with a time of 52.5 seconds, selected Team Captain for Boys Basketball 1969-1970, Boys Cross Country 1969-1970, Boys Track 1969-1970, Selected MVP for Boys Basketball 1968-1969.</p>
<p><u>Professional Awards:</u>  Selected twice as a Who’s Who in America’s Teachers, M.E.C. Star Educator 2005 and 2013, selected as “Most Influential Teacher” 3 times by students in the top 10 at Monroe Central High School, at my retirement after 40 years of teaching (1974-2014) Monroe Central Elementary honored me by presenting an annual award known as the Larry Mitchell Outstanding Character Award.</p>
