After graduation she declined scholarship offers so she could focus on continuing her education at Purdue University, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2015, then continued her education earning a Master Physician Assistant Science Degree from the University of Evansville in 2020.  While at Wes-Del she played 4 years of Volleyball, 3 years of Basketball and 1 year of Softball. During her volleyball career at Wes-Del she was selected to the All Mid Eastern Conference Team in 2010, the All Delaware County Team in 2010 &amp; 2011, the All State 1st Team in 2010 &amp; 2011, the Indiana All Star 1A/2A Team in 2010 &amp; 2011 and received the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award in 2011. Her Volleyball teams were Sectional Champions in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Regional Champions in 2009, 2010, and 2011, Semi-State Champions in 2009 and 2011, State Runner-up in 2009 and State Champion in 2011, which was Wes-Del’s first Volleyball State Championship. For her career she had over 1000 kills and 1000 digs, averaging 4.04 kills per set in 2011. She was also an outstanding student finishing high school with a 3.96 GPA and being the Valedictorian of her class in 2012.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Doug graduated Wes-Del in 1987. After graduation he attended Ball State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. Doug participated in Cross Country, Track and Basketball at Wes-Del. Doug earned 4 Varsity letters in Cross Country and 4 varsity letters in Track/Field. In Cross Country Doug was the County Champion in 1985 and 1986 and led the team to the first ever County Championship in 1986. He was All County and All Conference in 1983, 1984, 1985, &amp; 1986. Doug was All Sectional 3 times. He was a 3-time Regional Qualifier and led the team to the first ever Regional Qualification. He was also a 2-time Semi-State Qualifier and selected as Wes-Del’s Most Valuable Runner 3 times. He was the individual Champion at the Delta and Wapahani Invitationals. He is still the record holder for the 5000 meters with a time of 15:43. He was Academic 2nd Team All State and Hoosier Harrier 3rd Team All State in 1985. He had over 30 first place finishes in his high school career and was selected to represent the US vs Kenya, Africa Junior Team by the International Sports Exchange.</p>
<p>In Track, he was the 3200 meters County Champion in 1985, 1986, and 1987 and the 3200 meters Conference Champion in the White River Conference in 1986. Doug was All County in the 1600 meters in 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1987 and All Conference in the 3200 meters in 1985, 1986, 1987. He was a Sectional Qualifier in the 1600 and 3200 meters in 1984, 85, 86 and 87. Doug was All Sectional in the 3200 meters in 1986 and 87. He was also a 2-time Semi-State Qualifier in the 3200 meter in 1986 and 87 and still holds the school record in the 3200 meters at 9:32. He was selected as the Most Valuable runner in 1986 and 87 and was on the Wes-Del County Championship teams in 1986 and 1987 that were also undefeated in dual meets for those two years. Doug served as President of the Wes-Del Honor Society and was an Honors Graduate in 1987 and was a Ball State Scholarship recipient. In 2008 he took up competitive cycling (Road Racing) with Team Nebo Ridge in Indianapolis, eventually becoming President of the Club before retiring in 2021. In 2017 he started his own health care technology company and ran it before selling it in 2023.</p>

In Track/Field she served at Team Captain, was selected as Most Valuable Field Person in 1990. In 1992 she was the anchor of the County Champion 4&#215;100 Relay Team, was County Champion in the Long Jump and won the team Mental Attitude Award. Also, in 1992 she received the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award, the All Sports Scholastic Mental Attitude Award, the Herschel Brown Sportsmanship Award, and the Loretta G. Brown Citizenship Award. In college she participated in Basketball 4 years, Track and Field 2 years, Tennis 2 years, and Soccer 2 years. In 1993 she became the record holder in Indoor and Outdoor Long Jump, was a member of the 4 x 200 Relay Team that set a new Indoor school record, she was a member of the 4 x 100 Relay Team that set a new Outdoor school record and was selected All NCAC for indoor track. She was selected as the Most Valuable Player on the Tennis Team in 1996. In Basketball she served as Captain her Sophomore, Junior and Senior years and was awarded the Defense Award in 93, 94, 95, and 96. She also received the Roy and Marilyn Schuckman Mental Attitude Award in 1996.</p>

After graduating from Ball State he began his teaching and coaching career at Connersville High School. He served as an Assistant FB coach at Connersville from 1995-97. The Assistant Boys and Girls Track Coach from 1996-2010 (helping the Girls Team win Sectional Championships from (2004-2009). He served as the Varsity Boys and Girls Track Coach from 1997-2009 (leading the Girls Team to the Sectional Championship in 2003). He also feels fortunate to have coached his sons in baseball, basketball and football at various levels while they attended and eventually graduated from the Cambridge City Schools.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Abby was a 2009 graduate of Wes-Del. After graduation she attended Western Carolina University earning her Bachelors Degree at in 2013 and her Masters Degree from Butler University in 2015. While at Wes-Del she competed in Volleyball earning 4 letters. Her teams were Sectional Champions every year. In her senior year, Wes-Del was ranked as one of the top 5 teams in class A and they lost to a tough Lafayette Central Catholic team in the Regional finals which was the last year before the restructuring of Regionals took place in 2009. During her 4 year high school career she was the only Wes-Del volleyball player recruited by a NCAA Division I school and signed her letter of intent to attend Western Carolina University on national signing day in the HS library. During her high school career she was selected to the all Mid Eastern Conference Team in 2007 and 2008, the All County Team in 2008, Second team All State in 2007 and First Team All State in 2008. During her college career at Western Carolina she was a 4 year letter winner. Following her freshman year she sustained a stress fracture on her L3 vertebrae but was able to complete her career under the care of the Western Carolina training staff, winning the Comeback Player of the Year Award after her Sophomore season. She feels fortunate to have been able to compete against nationally ranked teams like the University of Kentucky, Purdue University and the University of Oregon. She has served as the Chief Operating Officer of Quality Correctional Care for the last 10 years.</p>

While wrestling he earned the Outstanding Freshman Wrestling Award. As a Senior, he wrestled in the 171 pound weight class where he was the East Central Indiana Classic Champion, Delaware County Wrestling Champion, White River Athletic Conference Champion, Sectional Champion, Regional Champion (defeating Jared Hargis in the Semi Finals and Josh Mahoney in the Final match), finished 3rd place at the Semi-State Meet and finished in 4th place in the Indiana Wrestling State Final Tournament. He holds the school record in the 171 lb weight class at 39-5. He finished his wrestling career with a record of 98-25. In his Senior year of football he led his team in tackles and assists and was one of the leaders in tackles in East Central Indiana. As a baseball player he was a member of 1999 and 2000 White River Athletic Conference Championship Teams.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>John came to Wes-Del in 2014. Where he became the Boy’s head basketball Coach. John became the longest serving boys basketball coach in Wes-Del history and he retired from that position after serving 10 years. He also became the only Boy’s basketball coach in Wes-Del history to win a total of over 100 games. He reached double digit wins in seven consecutive seasons while the previous record was 3. He was also named head coach of the 2023 Elite North vs South All Star game. In 2017 he was one of four coaches selected to coach the IBCA/Hoosier Basketball Top 100 Players Workout. Over 20 of his players made the Academic All-State Team during his career. John started the Old Timers Game for Graduates of Wes-Del that takes place prior to the start of each season and that has expanded to include the girl’s teams. He also started the Grassroots Elementary Basketball League. This league grew to include 15 different schools participating across 6 different grade levels and across 5 host sites. Starting this league also led to the start of the Future Lady Warriors League that our youth girls currently participate in. Throughout out his entire coaching career he has had 4 players go on to participate at either the college or semi-professional level.</p>

After graduation she attended Ball State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in 2017. During her volleyball career she played on the first Volleyball team to win a State Championship, which was also the first state championship for Wes-Del in any sport. In 2010 &amp; 11 she made the All County First Team, All Conference First Team, All State First Team, and the IHSAA All Star First team. She also won the Hershel Brown Sportsmanship Award in 2011. In track and field, her 2011 &amp; 2012 teams were Conference Champions. In the 2011 county track meet she finished 3rd in the 400m, and 2nd as a member of the 4x400m relay team. In 2012 her 4x100m relay team were conference champions. That same team finished 4th place in the sectional, and 9th place in the regional. Her 4x400m Relay team was the conference champion. She also finished 2nd place in the County in high jump, 4th place in sectionals, and 7th place in regionals. After high school she married her high school sweetheart Jake Benn and she has completed several half marathons and two full marathons.</p>

He was a pitcher and also played 1st Base, 3rd Base and the outfield during his career. His favorite memory was defeating heavily favored Jay County in the 1977 Sectional pitching a complete game and hitting 2 home runs. Bret won 3 letters in Basketball and was a member of the 1977 Sectional Championship Team which was the first in school history. In 1978 he helped the team to a Delaware County Championship and White River Conference Championship. In 1978-79 season he was selected to the All County Tournament Team, the All Sectional Team, the All County Team and the All Conference Team and was the 3rd leading scorer in Delaware County. In 1979 he was selected as the Outstanding Senior Athlete at Wes-Del. His favorite basketball memory was defeating Yorktown and winning the 1978 County Tournament.</p>

In 1988 his team also won the Jay County Invitational Track meet. Ron coached the Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country Teams from 1992-1995 including the first ever Girl’s Cross Country Team in 1992 and his Boy’s team won the Rushville Cross Country Invitational in 1993. He left Wes-Del in 1996 and completed his teaching and coaching career at Muncie Community Schools.</p>
